A Message from
Superintendent
John R. Williamson

Dear Model Families,

This week marks our first Academic Showcase of the year as our elementary students prepare to highlight their learning and growth. We hope you will join us on Thursday, April 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.

Next week is Educator Appreciation Week (May 4-8), a special opportunity to recognize the teachers and staff members who support our students each day. I invite you to take a moment to share a note of thanks with an educator who has made a meaningful impact in your child’s life. Messages can be submitted at model.eku.edu/thankyou, and and we will be glad to pass along your appreciation.

We will also begin celebrating the Class of 2026 this Friday with College Commitment Day. We are excited to learn where each of our 55 seniors plans to continue their educational journey. With graduation just around the corner, we look forward to honoring their achievements and the culmination of their time at Model.

A defining feature of a Model education is the Capstone experience that spans from the early grades through high school. Senior Project presentations begin next week, and we are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 as they reach this important milestone. These projects represent more than academic achievement—they reflect the critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance our students have developed throughout their years at Model.

Our required Kentucky State Assessments begin Monday, May 4, for students in Grades 3-8 and 10-11, and will continue into next week. These assessments provide students an opportunity to demonstrate their learning from across the year. Please support your child by encouraging a positive mindset, making sure they get plenty of rest, and providing a healthy breakfast on testing days.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported EKU Giving Day. Your generosity directly benefits Model students, and we are grateful for your continued support and investment in our school community.

Remember: there is no school for students on Friday, May 8.

Thank you for choosing Model for your child’s education.

Sincerely,

John Signature

Educator Appreciation Week: May 4-8 — Send Your Thanks!

Is there an educator who made you feel seen, supported, or inspired? Students and families—now’s your chance to say thank you.

For Educator Appreciation Week (May 4-8, 2026), we’re inviting you to write a short thank‑you note to any Model faculty or staff member who has made a difference.

At Model, we celebrate Educator Appreciation—not just Teacher Appreciation—because every member of our community plays a vital role in shaping students’ experiences and helping them thrive.

Your messages will be delivered to ensure our educators feel seen, valued, and celebrated, and our goal is to share a note with every faculty and staff member.

Share your appreciation here: model.eku.edu/thankyou.
